Miss Abbot & the Doctor

A comic that always motivates me because it isn't polished or refined in the slightest. It doesn't even have frames around the panels! Yet, the artist, Maripaz Villar, is telling stories that she wants to tell with her beloved characters despite being a full time freelance artist.

(She also has about $200 worth of support for giving out her comic for free on Patreon.com)

A sampling of her work:

I feel there is an opportunity for my business here. I have actually drawn 4 comic panels since starting the "Instagram pic a day" challenge. The panels are nothing special, but so much better than nothing! I can only imagine how great it would be if I were connected to other artists doing the same thing.

I think there are plenty of artists out there that crave a community where they can be "alone together." Each working on their solo projects, but having a support system and sense of belonging to a group/tribe, and sharing their progress and helpful resources. Isn't that what we're doing with this blog as well?

My challenge: how to build that "alone together" community for them...?

  1. I even like the "Alone Together" name! Just a tribe of isolated creatives who draw strength from their community. Yes, I do think its what this blog is doing too.
